Plavix (clopidogrel bisulfate)
Plavix (clopidogrel bisulfate) is a blood thinning drug designed to prevent blood clots and to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. This blood thinner was approved for general use in 1997. Recent studies have shown that it actually has no more significant benefits than the much cheaper alternative, aspirin. The manufacturers, Sanofi-Aventis and Bristol-Myer Squibb have generated over $6.3 billion in annual sales. This drug was once considered a safer alternative to aspirin. A forthcoming study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that a patient taking Plavix either alone or with aspirin is 12 times more likely to have ulcers than patients taking aspirin and a heartburn pill.
For some Plavix users, it actually INCREASES the risk of stroke, heart attack and death. If you or a loved one has suffered any injury listed below, as a result of taking the blood thinner PLAVIX, contact Balkin & Eisbrouch, LLC immediately.
